What is Osteopathy?

Osteopaths have been trained to holistically identify, examine and treat musculoskeletal stress and strain patterns in patients of all ages. Every baby’s delivery process is different and during this process your baby can be subjected to an enormous amount of force, which can cause strains within your baby’s body. These strain patterns may cause varying degrees of discomfort within your baby’s body.

Our osteopaths work alongside a network of various practitioners including GPs, Maternal Child Health Nurses, Lactation Consultants, Child Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Naturopaths and paediatric dentists to help manage our patients overall physical and emotional wellbeing. At times a referral may be necessary to help the overall picture of health in our patients.

Osteopathy for your child

Stresses and strains in the body can result from common childhood and adolescent conditions and complaints. Our Osteopaths with a focus on children examine movement, growth and development issues in children and will work in conjunction with other health professionals, such as your GP, maternal and child health nurse, paediatrician or specific specialist to help relieve these stresses and strains within the body and allow your child to move and function better.

Our Osteopaths use a range of movement based exercises to help them assess and diagnose musculoskeletal restrictions associated with any conditions. They will then use the appropriate treatment and management approach to help child or adolescent move better and feel more comfortable.
